Governor, prosecutor, and law enforcement covered up a murder: Murat Bakan takes a jab at Soylu

With the Gülistan Doku investigation being reopened years later and many figures in the state hierarchy being detained as part of the probe, eyes have turned to the former Minister of Interior, Soylu. CHP's Murat Bakan echoed a similar reminder to the one made by CHP Chairman Özel.

CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan, in a post on his social media account, recalled the parliamentary question they submitted to Minister of Interior Yerlikaya in 2024 regarding the death of Gülistan Doku and made striking points based on the questions they had raised at that time.

Recalling that they were informed two years ago that HTS records were being examined for that period, the CHP deputy stated that in light of the information that has emerged today, it has become clear that this was not true. 

Murat Bakan used the following expressions in his post:

"In 2024, we asked everything that needed to be asked in our parliamentary question to the then-Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya regarding Gülistan Doku. We see that nothing that was claimed to have been done during the Süleyman Soylu era was actually done. They said, 'The so-called HTS records were examined'; well, where are they? The governor's son's HTS records are not in the file!

Today it emerges that the suspect passed by the location where Gülistan's last signal was received multiple times. In a tiny city like Tunceli, in a place where you can find a person's base station, how could you not find this base station match with the governor's son for 6 years?

For 6 years, this girl has not been found, her sister is crying out, the family is holding a sit-in protest, but neither law enforcement, nor the judiciary, nor the civil administration has lifted a finger.

The former Minister of Interior cannot absolve himself by saying 'we drained the dam.' If the newly appointed prosecutor had not arrived, it seems there would have been no justice. Justice in Turkey cannot depend on the mercy of individuals or ministers. There is neither a state of law nor an independent judiciary.

Since it is said 'no matter where it leads,' then Süleyman Soylu should also go and give a statement! If Soylu says 'I made a presentation to the President,' then he is personally familiar with the file. He should go and explain to the justice system what they did wrong or what they left incomplete.

In this country, the governor, the prosecutor, and the law enforcement officers who are supposed to keep you safe... According to the allegations reflected in the public eye, they all covered up a murder. Look at those who were detained; the governor, the governor's son, the governor's chief of security, a dismissed police officer, the hospital's chief physician! What have these prosecutors been doing until today?

6 long years have passed. There is no place the family has not gone. We are pursuing that heartbreaking cry and this injustice that has been experienced to the very end."
