The risk of heavy snowfall, cold weather, frost, and icing continues in the Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
Consequently, governorates and district governorships have issued consecutive decisions to suspend education.
Education was suspended in some provinces and districts during the day.
The provinces where education has been suspended due to 'snow' are as follows:
Erzincan
In the statement made by the Governorate, it was stated that snowfall is effective throughout the city.
Stating that some risks may arise due to the precipitation, the statement said, "Taking into account the potential negative impacts on transportation and the risks to traffic safety, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 27, in all official, private, formal, and non-formal education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, Quran courses, nurseries, day care centers, and children's clubs affiliated with public institutions and organizations throughout our province."
The statement also noted that pregnant, disabled, and severely chronically ill personnel working in public institutions, as well as female personnel whose children attend kindergartens and nurseries, will be considered on administrative leave on the same date.
Gümüşhane
In the statement made by the Governorate, it was stated that according to meteorological forecasts, the snowfall that has started across the province will continue intermittently and the drop in air temperature will cause icing, especially in the morning hours.
Stating that education is suspended tomorrow in all types and levels of official, private, formal, and non-formal education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as well as official and private nurseries in the city center and districts due to potential negative impacts on transportation caused by winter conditions, the statement noted the following:
"In addition, pregnant, disabled, handicapped, and severely chronically ill personnel working in public institutions and organizations, as well as female personnel whose children attend nurseries, kindergartens, and primary schools (the status of personnel working in health, security, or units providing 24-hour service will be evaluated by their respective unit heads) will be considered on administrative leave on Friday, February 27, 2026."
Bingöl
In the statement made by the Adaklı District Governorship, it was reported that education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 27, in all official and private schools and special education institutions in the district due to icing and potential risks in transportation.
The statement said, "Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions throughout our district, and as a precautionary measure against icing and potential risks and dangers in transportation; education has been suspended for (1) day on Friday, 27.02.2026, in all official and private schools and special education institutions at all levels in our district. Our disabled and pregnant personnel working in the public sector will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day."
Trabzon
Education has been suspended for one day due to ongoing heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions in all schools in the Düzköy, Tonya, Çaykara, Maçka, and Dernekpazarı districts of Trabzon; in schools with bused education in the Hayrat, Vakfıkebir, Arsin, and Şalpazarı districts; and in some schools in the high-altitude areas of the Yomra, Çarşıbaşı, and Araklı districts.
Ordu
In the statement made by the Ordu Governorate, it was reported that due to the heavy snowfall continuing in the inner parts of the city, bused education has been suspended tomorrow in all schools in the Akkuş, Aybastı, Çamaş, Çaybaşı, Gölköy, Gürgentepe, Kabadüz, Kabataş, Korgan, Kumru, İkizce, Mesudiye, and Ulubey districts, and in some schools in the Fatsa, Ünye, Perşembe, and Altınordu districts.
The statement noted that pregnant, disabled, and severely chronically ill personnel working in public institutions, as well as female personnel whose children attend kindergartens and nurseries, will be considered on administrative leave.
Erzurum
Erzurum Governor Aydın Baruş stated on his social media account that snowfall is effective in the city.
Baruş stated the following:
"Due to the continuation of the snowfall effective in our province and the formation of frost and icing on the roads due to cold weather, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday in official and private kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, and high schools located in our Aziziye, Palandöken, and Yakutiye districts. On the same date, our pregnant and disabled public personnel will also be considered on administrative leave for 1 day. Decisions regarding our other districts will be taken by our district governorships. I wish our teachers and students a good holiday."
Tunceli
In the statement made by the Tunceli Governorate, it was said, "In order to prevent risks that may arise due to heavy snowfall, icing, and adverse weather conditions effective in our districts; in line with the decisions taken by the District Public Health Boards, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 27, 2026, in all official and private formal and non-formal education institutions in our Pülümür, Ovacık, and Nazımiye districts. In our Hozat district, bused education has been suspended for 1 day on the same date. In addition, pregnant and disabled personnel working in public institutions and organizations in our districts, as well as female personnel who have children attending kindergartens and nurseries, will be considered on administrative leave for 1 day."
Van
According to the statement made by the Governorate, snowfall, icing, and fog continue to be effective in the city.
Due to adverse weather conditions, education has been suspended tomorrow in primary and secondary education institutions (including high schools, public education, special education, and rehabilitation centers) throughout the city.
Disabled and pregnant public personnel, as well as mothers working in the public sector who have children aged 0-6, will also be considered on administrative leave.
Sivas
Education has been suspended for 1 day in the Koyulhisar district of Sivas due to blizzard and icing.
In the announcement made by the Koyulhisar District Governorship, it was stated, "By the decision of the District Public Health Board, education has been suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 27, due to the snowfall, blizzard, and icing effective throughout our district."
Malatya
According to the statements made on the social media accounts of the Arapgir and Akçadağ District Governorships, the blizzard and icing that occurred after the heavy snowfall are expected to increase in intensity starting from the night hours.
In order not to cause disruptions in transportation, bused education has been suspended tomorrow in the Akçadağ and Arapgir districts.
