Greek harassment of Turkish fishing boat: Coast Guard Command issues statement on the incident

The Ministry of Interior's Coast Guard Command reported that 1 Coast Guard ship and 1 Coast Guard boat were dispatched to the area after Greek elements harassed a fishing boat operating off the coast of Bodrum, Muğla, by firing shots into the air.

In a statement released by the Coast Guard Command, it was noted that upon receiving a report at 16:35 that the Turkish-flagged fishing boat named "Barbaros-4," which was fishing off the coast of Akyarlar in the Bodrum district of Muğla, had been harassed by a Greek Coast Guard element firing shots into the air, 1 Coast Guard ship and 1 Coast Guard boat were dispatched to the region.

The statement indicated that the Greek Coast Guard element located on the median line was pushed away from the area through interception maneuvers by the assigned Coast Guard units, and included the following statement: "Inspections conducted on the Turkish fishing boat revealed no damage, and the fishing boat was ensured to safely proceed to the Turgutreis Fishing Shelter."
