F-35 threat to Turkey from Greek Minister Georgiadis: 'We could be in Ankara one night suddenly'

The remarks made by Greek Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis on the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation have drawn backlash.

'WE COULD BE IN ANKARA ONE NIGHT SUDDENLY'

Greek Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis, in a statement to Open television, used the expression, "We could arrive in Ankara one night suddenly with F-35s." 

In his remarks, Georgiadis also stated, "The Turks' slogans of 'We could come one night suddenly' make me laugh," "We could be in Ankara one night suddenly with F-35s without appearing on radar," and "I am not saying we will do it, we do not want to do it, but what Erdogan says makes me laugh. How, is he going to come to Greece? With his shoes? Turkey is an absolute zero in aviation."

Claiming that Prime Minister Mitsotakis disturbs Turkey and arguing that the Athens administration possesses strong alliances, Minister Georgiadis referred to the alliances Greece entered into with the US and France during the Eastern Mediterranean crisis that erupted in the summer of 2020.

'BECAUSE THEY TRUST THE WEST...'

Retired Major General Ahmet Yavuz reacted to the words of Greek Minister Georgiadis, stating the following in a post on social media:

"They asked Temel: 'Stupidity or beauty?' He said stupidity without thinking. 'Why?' they asked. Because beauty is temporary, he replied! This stupidity never passes! Because they trust the West, they lost one hundred thousand people a hundred years ago, and a hundred years later they are prone to the same mistake! I am not surprised at all!
