Mesut Çolakoğlu, the father of Ayşenur Çolakoğlu, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend 17 months ago in Eskişehir, has launched a petition to overturn the 'good conduct' sentence reduction granted to his daughter's killer.
21-year-old Ayşenur Çolakoğlu, who worked as a hairdresser in Eskişehir, lost her life on December 17, 2022, after being shot four times by her ex-boyfriend, Hasan Fakıoğlu.
Following the incident, Hasan Fakıoğlu, who was tried at the Eskişehir 3rd High Criminal Court, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of 'qualified intentional killing of a woman,' with a reduction for 'good conduct.'
The 'good conduct' reduction applied by the court panel was met with backlash from Ayşenur Çolakoğlu's father, Mesut Çolakoğlu.
Finding the sentence given to his daughter's killer insufficient, Mesut Çolakoğlu launched a petition on social media.
''MAY NO OTHER AYŞENURS DIE''
Having collected over 1,300 signatures with the campaign titled 'Ensure justice for Ayşenur Çolakoğlu, say no to good conduct reduction' on social media, Mesut Çolakoğlu said, “My daughter Ayşenur Çolakoğlu was murdered with 4 bullets. My daughter's killer received a reduction for good conduct. Because of this incident, we started a petition in my daughter's name, saying 'No to good conduct reduction.' According to the reasoned decision, the defendant received a good conduct reduction because he would be negatively affected by this decision in the future. My daughter was only 21 years old, she died in the prime of her life. What about my daughter's future? May no other Ayşenurs die. I want the decision to be overturned so it does not set a bad precedent. I am waiting for support for our petition.”
