Grim picture on the first day of the Eid al-Adha holiday

On the first day of the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, 852 traffic accidents occurred, resulting in 5 deaths.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 852 traffic accidents occurred on the first day of the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, with 5 people losing their lives and 1,421 people sustaining injuries.

Addressing the citizens, Yerlikaya stated, "Please strictly follow traffic rules and do not speed. Let us not neglect to wear seat belts in our vehicles and on buses. Journeys exist to reunite you with your loved ones."

Yerlikaya's statement is as follows:

"During the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, Police and Gendarmerie traffic teams are taking the necessary precautions for the safety of our citizens and are continuing inspections with great sensitivity.

On the 1st day of the holiday, Saturday, June 15, 2024, within a 24-hour period:

852 traffic accidents occurred.

407,731 vehicles were inspected.

Speed and radar enforcement actions were taken against 24,357 vehicles,

and other actions were taken against 42,720 vehicles.

Unfortunately, 5 of our citizens lost their lives in traffic accidents on the first day of the holiday. 1,421 of our citizens were injured. I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to our injured.
