Groundbreaking date set for rail transport project
It has been announced that the first step for the new rail system line, which is expected to significantly ease urban transportation in Trabzon, will be taken on September 1. The 16-station line will extend from the east to the west of the city.

The countdown has begun for the new rail system project that will provide a solution to the transportation problem in Trabzon city center. The groundbreaking ceremony for the 16.2-kilometer-long new line will be held on September 1.
The rail system, which will start at the 10th Regional Directorate of Highways in Akçaabat's Yıldızlı neighborhood, will connect the city's busiest points and extend to Trabzon Airport. Thus, a new transportation backbone will be established on the east-west axis of Trabzon.
The 16 stations to be built on the line will be, in order, Karayolları, City Hospital, Trabzonspor Stadium, Bayındırlık İskan, Beşirli, Trabzon Regional Directorate of Forestry, Tanjant, İnönü, Atapark, Pazarkapı, Trabzon Meydan Park, Terminal, Sanayi, Forum AVM, Karadeniz Technical University, and the Airport.
The project, which is planned to serve a wide region, primarily Akçaabat and Ortahisar, will use vehicles with a capacity of 360 passengers. While the duration of a single trip is calculated as 26 minutes and 14 seconds, the daily passenger transport capacity is projected to exceed 87 thousand.
Thanks to the rail system, the city's most important points such as the university, city hospital, stadium, and airport will be connected to each other more quickly and comfortably. With the completion of the project, the face of public transportation in Trabzon is expected to change.
