RTÜK PRESIDENT: IT IS NOT HER PLACE
Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) President Ebubekir Şahin also targeted Tosun in a post on his X account today, stating, 'It is not the place of someone who is a news anchor to threaten state officials.'
In his statement, Şahin argued that 'it does not befit media members to adopt approaches on social media platforms that could negatively affect the public, even if it is outside their scope of duty.'

Şahin's statement is as follows:
"When universal press values are taken into consideration, media members who broadcast to the general public must also be role models with their attitudes and behaviors in their private lives.
Approaches on social media platforms that could negatively affect the public or create tension among citizens do not befit press members who serve on behalf of the public, even if they are outside their scope of duty.
It is essential to avoid threats of uprising against the government elected by the majority vote of the people or unconscious approaches that could incite our citizens. It is not the place of someone who is a news anchor to threaten state officials."
