As part of the Gülistan Doku investigation, the procedures at the gendarmerie for Çağdaş Özdemir, the then-chief physician of Tunceli State Hospital who was detained in Bursa on allegations of deleting hospital records, have been completed.
After undergoing a health check, Özdemir was taken to the Tunceli Courthouse under heavy security measures.
It was learned that the testimony of the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, one of the individuals detained as part of the investigation, is continuing at the Erzurum Police Department.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: RECORDS "DEFINITIVELY DELETED"
In the investigation, it was determined that hospital data belonging to Gülistan Doku had been deleted from the system. The prosecutor's office recorded this situation in the file with the note "definitively deleted."
It was determined that headings such as "pregnancy, plan, heartbeat" were among the deleted data. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether these records are linked to a possible pregnancy status of Doku.
An inspector has been appointed by the Ministry of Health regarding the incident.
LARGE-SCALE INVESTIGATION FOLLOWING MISSING PERSON REPORT
After no news could be received from Munzur University student Gülistan Doku starting from January 5, 2020, her family filed a missing person report on January 6. No results were obtained from the search efforts initiated.
Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were initiated against 15 suspects on charges including "intentional killing," "sexual assault," "destruction of evidence of a crime," "accessing an information system and deleting data," "deprivation of liberty," and similar offenses.
While 10 of the suspects were arrested, judicial control measures were applied to some individuals.
GENDARMERIE REPORT: BURIED BODY MAY HAVE BEEN EXHUMED LATER
According to the statement of a secret witness in the file, it was alleged that Gülistan Doku was murdered and her body was buried in a region connected to the Pertek district.
The following assessment was included in the gendarmerie report regarding the underground scan conducted upon this allegation:
“It has been determined that an excavation was previously carried out in the relevant area, that a person may have been buried and removed from here within approximately 1-2 years, that an object such as a backpack along with a weapon may have been buried in the void along with the body, and that the oxidation occurring in the void is evaluated to have been caused by this.”
On the other hand, it was stated that the named suspects Mustafa Türkay Sonel and Şükrü Eroğlu denied the accusations in their testimonies and claimed that they did not know Gülistan Doku.
