In an incident that occurred in the village of Ağaçbükü in the Cide district of Kastamonu, it is alleged that 59-year-old K.Ö. fired a handgun into the air from the window of his home. The bullet from the weapon struck the wall of a building and ricocheted, hitting 45-year-old M.D., who was walking on the road, in the head.
Citizens in the vicinity immediately reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center to request assistance. Upon the report, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. The medical personnel who arrived at the scene in a short time provided initial intervention before transporting M.D. to the Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital. It was learned that M.D., who was admitted to the intensive care unit at the hospital, remains in critical condition.
K.Ö., who is believed to have caused the accident, and 55-year-old N.T., the actual owner of the handgun, were taken into custody by teams from the District Gendarmerie Command. A detailed investigation into the incident is being conducted by the gendarmerie.
Meanwhile, authorities drew attention to the dangers of firing randomly into the air and issued warnings to citizens to prevent similar cases.
