Remarkable comment from Gürsel Tekin following congress decision: We will leave by court order

Tekin stated, "We are not a board that came through a congress decision. We are a board that came through a court order. Our duty will be terminated by a court order. We are in favor of it being terminated as soon as possible."

One of the operations directed at the CHP by the government through the judiciary was the cancellation of the 38th Istanbul Provincial Congress by the 45th Civil Court of First Instance.

With an interim decision, the court cancelled the congress. Following the court's decision, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and the provincial administration were removed from office. While reactions to the decision continued, Gürsel Tekin was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency.

Özgür Çelik and the provincial administration applied to the Sarıyer District Election Board with a request to hold an extraordinary congress on September 24. Following the application, the congress took place today. Özgür Çelik was re-elected as the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair.

"WE WILL LEAVE BY COURT ORDER"

Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, answered journalists' questions at the former CHP Provincial Presidency building in Sarıyer, which he currently occupies. Stating that they arrived via the judiciary, Tekin spoke as follows:

"I am not entering into a debate about the congress. We never have. There is a lot of work we need to do legally. We still haven't been able to take possession of our fixtures.

We still haven't been able to take possession of the safe. Despite all this, and despite the malice of many of our friends, we have never once applied to the judiciary. We are an independent board here.

Any decision the judiciary makes will naturally bind us. Without question, even if it is a lie or wrong, every decision binds us. Therefore, I am not making a comment regarding the congress held today. May it be auspicious.
