Gürsel Tekin responds to Özgür Özel's 'They run away when I arrive' remarks

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Headquarters had changed the address of the provincial building and decided that the building would be used as the office of Chairman Özgür Özel, following the entry of Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency, accompanied by police.

CHP leader Özgür Özel criticized Gürsel Tekin in his statements following the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting held at the former provincial presidency building in Sarıyer.

Stating that the building was designated as the "Istanbul Working Office" and that the Ministry of Interior did not process the change in the system despite official notifications, Özel said:

"We are complaining to our nation about this inconceivable, shameful attitude. They scurry away from here when I arrive. When we leave, they come back on the sly. Who are you going to complain to about whom? Does police enter my building, a political party building? He brings police into the building, and they run away when I arrive. This is our office. If they had registered the correct address, everyone would be welcome, but you can see it is under occupation. There are barriers everywhere, a citizen cannot even come in."

Following these remarks, new statements came from Gürsel Tekin. Tekin said, "Our silence is not our cowardice. Our silence is because we are preserving the corporate identity of the CHP. Let this be my final warning. If you say, 'No brother, you speak whatever you know too,' then I will be forced to speak as well. Therefore, this is my final request to the esteemed chairman. We have a duty here legally, and we want to complete our duty and leave in a short time. Inciting our very valuable voters against us with lies and slander on screens, here and there..."

RESPONSE TO "THEY RUN AWAY WHEN I ARRIVE" REMARKS

Tekin gave the following response to Özel's words, "He brings police into the building, and they run away when I arrive":

“I did not expect this from Mr. Özgür Özel. I am not that person. I am Mr. Özgür Özel's older brother, his fellow traveler. It did not suit him at all. I am not running away anywhere. The whole world knows that I will not run away. We left our fears behind and came. We wanted to provide impeccable hospitality. These sentences were not pleasant, may he be well"

Responding to a question about the party congress case to be heard tomorrow (September 15), Tekin said, "It does not concern me at all. I hope a decision in favor of our party comes out in Ankara."

"I DO NOT FORGIVE THEM"

When asked if he would request an appointment from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Tekin said, "It won't happen after yesterday's remark. I do not forgive any of them. You had me booed on the podium. Who did you have booed? The party's clean people, me and my friends. It is a shame, it is a sin," he said.

Tekin stated, "It is because of these mindsets of yours that the AK Party is in power. Because of these fascist mindsets. Give this up. Who are you? We are waiting with patience."

Regarding whether he received support from within the party, Tekin expressed the following:

"The reporter friends from a few television channels close to us, for whom I have infinite respect; I want to leave my phone with them for three days. Let them look at my phone themselves. I trust my phone."
