CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and his administration have been removed from office, and Gürsel Tekin and his delegation have been appointed as trustees.
While it was decided to suspend 196 delegates from their duties as a precautionary measure, it was also decided to halt the ongoing congress process.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM GÜRSEL TEKİN
Gürsel Tekin made a statement to Sözcü TV following the decision and, noting that it had not yet reached him, said, "We are never on this side or that side. I am the one who criticized Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu the most. My 4 colleagues and I have been CHP members for 40 years. We will pursue a policy that integrates rather than divides, and leads to power in this way." Tekin stated that when the decision reaches him, he will serve as the provincial chair and will not refuse.
'I AM A STUDENT OF THE CHP'
Gürsel Tekin also shared a message on his social media account. The following statements were included in Tekin's post:
“I am a student of the CHP, which was founded on battlefields. My party has been my red line throughout my life. Protecting intra-party brotherhood and solidarity in such difficult days is our most essential duty. If the subject is the CHP, the rest is detail.”
TRUSTEE DELEGATION ANNOUNCED
Gürsel Tekin, Zeki Şen, Hasan Babacan, Müjdat Gürbüz, and Erkan Narsap have been appointed as the temporary delegation to the Provincial Chairmanship of Istanbul.
It was decided to suspend the party congress delegates from this duty as a precautionary measure.
