A “trash” controversy has erupted between former CHP MP Gürsel Tekin and CHP Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner.

Journalist Eray Görgülü posted a photo of trash on his social media account, writing, “This is the street between Armada and Koç Towers. It is one of the busiest areas in Ankara’s Çankaya. It is like this every day. It is not becoming,” and tagged the Çankaya Municipality, believing the area was within the borders of the Çankaya district.

Former CHP MP Gürsel Tekin quoted this message from journalist Eray Görgülü and issued a call to CHP Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, writing:

“Dear Hüseyin Can Güner, I know that you would never accept such scenes; such a scene is already unacceptable in the central points of Ankara. Please know that we are by your side with all our strength; I believe you will do what is necessary. The youth must carry the flag further…”

“YOU ARE NOT SINCERE” RESPONSE FROM THE CHP MAYOR

CHP Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner emphasized that the area where the trash pile was located did not belong to the Çankaya district. Criticizing Gürsel Tekin for sharing this photo on social media instead of calling him personally to provide information, the CHP mayor stated that Tekin was not being sincere. Güner also added that he had tried to call Tekin on the phone but could not reach him.

The response given by CHP Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner to Gürsel Tekin on social media is as follows:

“Mr. Gürsel,

Although the area in question is within the borders of another district rather than Çankaya, I have received information from my colleagues that the necessary intervention has been made.

Politics is, first and foremost, about sincerity. If you were truly by our side, instead of sharing such a message, you would have made an effort to learn the truth and warn us.

Approaching this with sensitivity, I chose the path of reaching you by phone and conveying the correct information, but unfortunately, it does not seem possible to reach you by phone.

In Çankaya, all our hardworking colleagues work 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, regardless of the time, for a greener and cleaner city.

Nevertheless, when we have a shortcoming, unlike you, everyone can easily reach us through any channel, and we will address our shortcomings if there are any.

As you expressed, despite all kinds of ill-intentioned approaches, we, the youth and social democrats, will carry the flag further.

See you soon.”
