In his statement, Kutlualp said, "There was a situation that our president was always complaining about and unhappy with... He would ask, 'Why don't you run for office?' When the system gets stuck, what do you do? You go for a vote of confidence. If the president and the board think the same way, you should go for a vote of confidence. Call for an extraordinary congress, and I am a candidate."

Known as the "Banana King" in the Fenerbahçe community, Kutlualp played a major role in the club's significant transfers.
