Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan continues his contacts in Germany, where he arrived to attend the 61st Munich Security Conference. Fidan met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio today on the sidelines of the conference.

During the meeting, commercial relations, including the defense industry, and other bilateral issues were discussed. The situation in Syria, developments in Gaza, and issues related to the Ukraine-Russia war were evaluated. Minister Fidan conveyed his views on the steps that regional countries could take regarding the fight against the terrorist organization ISIS. Touching upon the importance of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Minister Fidan stated that the Israel-Palestine conflict must be resolved to establish regional peace. Potential developments regarding the possibility of establishing peace between Ukraine and Russia were also discussed in detail during the meeting.

Within the framework of his Munich contacts, Minister Fidan had met with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock earlier in the day.
