Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that aerial aid drops lead to deaths and that aid is being delivered by land and sea. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey convened in an extraordinary session due to Israel's attacks in Gaza and the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Speaking at the TBMM General Assembly, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that Turkey should send aid to Gaza by air.
Responding to Özel's request, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan shared the reasons why Turkey has not been able to send aid by air. Emphasizing that aerial aid is not safe, Fidan said, "It is implied that the government is negligent regarding sending aid by air. However, the reality is that aid dropped from the air causes deaths and does not reach its destination. 14-year-old Muhammed Eid was crushed under a cargo pallet. All aid organizations state that aerial aid is not safe. Our strongest area is delivering aid. AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent are working day and night, and we are delivering aid by land and sea in cooperation with Egypt," he said.

Minister Fidan also stated that President Erdoğan has given approval for aerial aid, adding, "Our President has given us approval on this matter. We have established coordination with Jordan. However, it is not possible for us to enter there without Jordan opening its airspace. We have offered several times; our planes are ready. As soon as permission is granted by Jordan, we are in a position to send the aid immediately," he stated.
