Hakan Fidan reveals he received a call from the US on the night of the attack: 'Iran should not retaliate'

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made important statements regarding the agenda during a live broadcast program he attended.

The meeting between our President and Trump was a planned meeting. Both leaders were in constant communication. As a continuation of this, they stated that they needed to have direct contact as soon as possible. During the meeting at the NATO summit, global and regional issues, primarily the Gaza issue and the Iran-Israel tension, were discussed. It was a very constructive meeting.

"OUR PRESIDENT'S LEADERSHIP IN NATO IS INDISPUTABLE"

An agreement was reached for NATO members to increase their spending to 5 percent within the next 10 years. This will somewhat change the balances regarding international security. For the first time, Ukraine did not take part in the summit. This time, it was a single-session summit. In previous NATO summits, there would be several sessions and it would last 2 days. This time, only the issues of member countries were discussed in a single session. Our President's leadership in NATO is indisputable.

Many European countries did not want a ceasefire in favor of Israel; they too now see that the situation has reached an unbearable level.

The 2026 NATO Summit will be held in Turkey. Our President will evaluate whether it will be in Ankara or Istanbul.

IRAN-ISRAEL TENSION

Israel's attack on Iran pushed Iran toward the issue of legitimate self-defense. Netanyahu does not hesitate to set the region on fire for his own political survival. Israel does not have the power to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities. This war has ended for now in 12 days, but there is an agreement made assuming that the nuclear capacity has been destroyed.
