Hakan Fidan slams Israel: 'The region is in flames because of Netanyahu'

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made important statements at the Gaza Contact Group meeting organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Arab League, the European Union (EU), and Norway within the framework of the 79th United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

 Emphasizing that Israel's "killing spree" in Gaza has not ended, Fidan stated that ceasefire negotiations have been repeatedly blocked by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

'THE REGION IS IN FLAMES BECAUSE OF NETANYAHU'

Fidan said that Israel has not limited its aggression to Gaza, but has spread it to the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Lebanon. Pointing out that Netanyahu's policies have turned the region into a firestorm, Fidan expressed that the international community's "rules-based order" has been seriously shaken.

'WE CANNOT WAIT FOR ISRAEL'S GOODWILL'

Reminding that Israel rejects the State of Palestine and a two-state solution, Fidan said, "We cannot wait for Israel's goodwill to implement a two-state solution."

Emphasizing that Israel's greedy policies should not be ignored, Fidan stated that Palestine must become a full member of the UN and called on the international community to act on this matter.

'A TWO-STATE SOLUTION WILL BRING PEACE'

Fidan stated that the occupation of Palestine has never brought more peace or security to Israel. However, noting that a two-state solution would provide lasting security for everyone, Fidan reiterated Turkey's proposal to establish a guarantor mechanism to meet the security needs of both countries and said that the solution should not be delayed any further.
