Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a critical phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. In the shadow of the escalating hot conflict atmosphere in the region, the recent missile tension on the Iran-Israel line and the latest status of back-channel diplomacy between Tehran and Washington were discussed.

Following the surge in tension once again in the Middle East despite ceasefire decisions, diplomatic channels on the Ankara-Tehran line were rapidly activated. According to information obtained from Foreign Ministry sources, Minister Fidan exchanged critical messages with his Iranian counterpart Araghchi regarding the preservation of regional stability and preventing the spread of chaos.

TWO MAIN TOPICS ON THE TABLE DURING THE CRITICAL MEETING

Ministry sources reported that two strategic issues came to the fore in the telephone traffic:

Hot Tension and Missile Crisis: The dimensions of the crisis, which escalated with Israel's attacks on Lebanon despite the ceasefire and Iran's retaliatory missile strike last night, were addressed.

Tehran-Washington Line: The latest developments and the diplomatic situation in the negotiations that have been ongoing for some time between Iran and the US, which directly affect regional balances, were evaluated.

The chain of events that brought the region to the brink of total war once again began with the Israeli army launching an airstrike on the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, despite the ceasefire. Reacting sharply to the attack, the Tehran administration made a swift decision to retaliate.

The Iranian army and the Revolutionary Guards announced that the Ramat David Airbase, identified as the command and launch center for Israel's airstrikes on Lebanon, was directly targeted with ballistic missiles.

Following the intense missile attacks, which Iran announced with the statement "The promise has been fulfilled," sirens sounded across Israel and air defense systems were activated. With the Israeli army also targeting some points in Iran, including petrochemical facilities, the conflicts in the region have evolved into a new dimension.
