Hakan Fidan's statement on Syria: 'It is just beginning'

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with representatives of national and international media organizations in Istanbul. Evaluating the agenda at the press conference, Hakan Fidan stated, "I can say that our story regarding Syria is just beginning. At this stage, the Syrian people are facing various challenges, primarily the reconstruction of the country. Following the fall of the regime, we began supporting our neighbor's reconstruction and development efforts with our embassy, which we opened within a week, and our boards actively working on the ground." 

Speaking about the jihadist HTS group, which led the front against the Assad administration in Syria, Minister Fidan said, "Our Syrian brothers, who waged a difficult struggle against a bloodthirsty regime, have laid the foundations for a new era by ending 61 years of oppression."

Minister Fidan continued his remarks as follows: 

"In our Syria policy, which we have pursued with strategic patience since 2011, we have defended truth, justice, and humanity despite all attacks, provocations, and obstacles. We said that those who are in the right are in no rush. Today, we are experiencing the justified pride of standing on the right side of history."
