'Hakan Şükür' crisis in the judiciary: New law on the way

It has emerged that FETÖ fugitive and former AKP deputy Hakan Şükür granted power of attorney to a lawyer in Turkey and filed compensation lawsuits against over a thousand citizens who insulted him on social media.

Speaking on Halk TV, journalist Barış Terkoğlu explained the Hakan Şükür crisis occurring within the judiciary.

COURT ISSUES COMPENSATION RULING

Stating, "I thought these cases would remain inconclusive," Terkoğlu announced that as a result of these cases, courts have sentenced citizens to pay compensation to Hakan Şükür.

However, following these decisions, a lawyer close to the government took action. According to Terkoğlu, the lawyer in question filed a complaint with the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) demanding that the judges who issued the compensation rulings be dismissed, investigated, and prosecuted.

'THEY WILL INTRODUCE A HAKAN ŞÜKÜR LAW'

Drawing attention to the contradictory situation in the judiciary, Terkoğlu spoke as follows:

"There is a systemic crisis. If you donate 50 liras to Hakan Şükür, the judiciary tries you for aiding terrorism, but if you insult Hakan Şükür, the judiciary says, 'Pay compensation to Hakan Şükür.' What kind of inconsistency is this?

The AKP community is discussing this paradox among themselves. According to an interview given by the Minister of Justice, they will add a new article to the law. Every Turkish citizen has the right to file a lawsuit for insults directed at them. A new article will be added. Fugitives with an active arrest warrant will be required to come in person to file such a lawsuit.

They will introduce a Hakan Şükür law. Deputies will vote on the Hakan Şükür law. Is this how Turkey's justice system will be solved? Will they work case by case and apply temporary fixes? Turkey cannot even think about solving its problems."
