Young people arrested and sent to prison during the Ekrem İmamoğlu protests have described the harsh conditions at Silivri Prison.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation on the morning of March 19, was arrested on corruption charges on March 23 and sent to Silivri Prison.
During this process, many young people who took to the streets to exercise their constitutional rights were arrested following protest demonstrations.
It has emerged that the young people sent to Silivri Prison are living under harsh conditions.
According to a report by Tolga Balcı from Gazete Pencere, the young people described the difficult conditions they are facing through their lawyers:
- The toilets are filthy; we cannot even enter them. Because there is no hot water, we cannot shower.
- Our beds are right next to the toilets. We are struggling to even breathe due to the foul odor.
- The wards are damp, there is no light in the toilets, and while there is a heating system in the ward, it does not work.
- One of the young people staying in Ward No. 4 refused to eat and is not being fed. The food smells, and some young people are vomiting from nausea.
- One young person was sent to a filthy cell without any reason given for being removed from the ward.
- The phones are disconnected, and there is no television or refrigerator.
THEY WERE MOVED TO A TEMPORARY WARD
As a result of the appeals made, the prison administration removed the young people from the wards they were in. The young people who were staying in the cell were moved to a temporary ward that has a telephone.
