As tensions between Iran and the US continue, striking statements have come from Mohammad Akbarzadeh, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy. Speaking to Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency, Akbarzadeh made assessments regarding the US's policies in the region, the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran's defense capacity.
"THE US IS STUCK IN A QUAGMIRE IN ITS WAR WITH IRAN"
Speaking at Vahdet Square in the city of Gorgan in Golestan province, Akbarzadeh made claims regarding the US's situation against Iran.
Claiming that the US has failed in its struggle against Iran, Akbarzadeh stated, "We know very well that the US is stuck in a quagmire in its war with Iran."
The Iranian commander stated that his country would not take a step back in the face of external pressures, saying, "We will fight against the enemy's excessive demands. Iran will not take a single step back from the new management order of the Strait of Hormuz."
"ARMED FORCES ARE STANDING BY"
Stating that the Iranian Armed Forces are ready for duty at any moment for the country's defense, Akbarzadeh also made statements regarding the US's military presence in the region.
Akbarzadeh said, "Today, they are using hired elements to protect the lives of their own soldiers. However, they have also seen that Iran's missiles have brought bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates within range and made them insecure."
"WE WILL NOT TAKE A STEP BACK IN DIPLOMACY EITHER"
Arguing that Iran will not make concessions not only in the military field but also in the diplomatic field, Akbarzadeh expressed that his country's fundamental policies cannot be changed through pressure.
Emphasizing that Iran will not take a step back at the diplomatic table just as it does on the battlefield, Akbarzadeh claimed that the US's influence in the region has come to an end.
Touching upon US President Donald Trump in his statements, Akbarzadeh claimed that Trump is trying to return the Strait of Hormuz to its pre-war status.
Stating that Iran will not make its sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz a subject of negotiation, Akbarzadeh said that its nuclear program and missile policies cannot be changed through pressure.
