Journalist Fatih Portakal has reacted to the appointment of people close to him to municipal staff by Mustafa Bozbey, the new mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which was won by the CHP on March 31. Stating that this mentality is a diseased one and that it is necessary to get rid of it, Portakal said, "Some really have no shame at all."

The March 31 Local Elections saw appointments made at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP, become a major topic of discussion.

It was revealed that Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Bozbey had appointed his nephew, Furkan Bozbey, as the chairman of the board of directors of one of the municipality's subsidiaries, Bursa Kent Yapı İmar Bilişim Enerji (BURKENT).

In Bursa, where all eyes suddenly turned, it was also determined that Bozbey had appointed his sister-in-law to the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Social Services. Furthermore, Bozbey's appointment of Şafak Pala, the wife of CHP deputy Kayıhan Pala, to the Department of Culture and Social Affairs had sparked controversy.

Journalist Fatih Portakal used very harsh expressions for Bozbey, who is said to have abandoned the appointment decisions following the backlash.

During the broadcast on Sözcü TV, Portakal reacted to the appointment decisions in question, stating, "This is a harmful, diseased mentality."

Fatih Portakal used the following expressions:

"We are criticizing these things. Those who take two salaries, three salaries, those who appoint their relatives. This is a harmful, diseased mentality. It is necessary to get rid of this mentality. We are talking about the Bursa example. There is Mustafa Bozbey in Bursa, which passed from the AK Party to the CHP. First, a nephew appeared. He appointed his nephew and then removed him from office. He even said, as if doing a favor, 'We removed him from office to avoid creating controversy.' After that, the deputy's wife was there, the sister-in-law was in a position there."
