The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that Ece Gürel, who went missing in the Belgrade Forest, was found alive in a rugged forested area as of 01:15 AM. As part of the search efforts conducted in the forest, Gürel was discovered sleeping by a 4-person riot police team and a 12-person non-governmental organization team. After being awakened, it was determined that she was conscious, and Gürel was taken to an ambulance after speaking on the phone with her husband, Sezer Gürel.

Gürel, who was found to have minor injuries, was treated by medical teams as a precaution.

Ece Gürel's mother, Gülşen Koçoğlu, made statements to journalists after her daughter was found.

In her statement, Koçoğlu said: "Her health is good, she is in intensive care. She will rest and come back. I was incredibly happy when she was found. I got a call saying she was found. I had lost hope. She studied at the faculty of forestry. She knew those places better than others. We don't know how she went or why she went. What matters now is Ece's health. I don't know how she ended up like this. She also had hypothermia. While we were waiting there, we couldn't stand it even while dressed. What did she do? She had no coat, she had nothing. She wouldn't go out into nature or anything like that; she would relax at home."

Ece Gürel (36), who lives in Istanbul, sent a message to her friend informing her that she was going to the Belgrade Forest after leaving her home in the Gültepe neighborhood of Kağıthane on Sunday afternoon. However, when no news could be received from her after this message, search and rescue efforts were initiated upon her friend's report. AFAD, AKUT, and various search and rescue teams carried out work in the Belgrade Forest for Gürel, who is known to be a landscape architect. Her family, who filed a missing person report, also closely followed the search efforts. The teams carried out a large-scale search operation accompanied by scent-tracking dogs.
