The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued detention warrants for 23 suspects, including social media influencers and several celebrities, as part of an investigation into the promotion of illegal betting.
Among the suspects alleged to have appeared in illegal betting advertisements in the investigation were singer Serdar Ortaç and presenter Mehmet Ali Erbil.
It was decided that judicial control measures in the form of "house arrest" would be applied to Serdar Ortaç and Mehmet Ali Erbil. Following Erbil's detention, a notable claim regarding him has come to the fore.

Onur Akay made a claim regarding Mehmet Ali Erbil. In his statement, Akay said:
"In August 2022, I was the one who announced to you that the Ibo Show program had been taken off the air. In November 2024, I am announcing to you that the Kanal D management has taken the Turnike program off the air. Kanal D has even returned the filmed episodes to the producers."
