It has emerged that Atilla Cücü, who sexually assaulted and murdered 9-year-old Tuğçe Omita in Adana in 1998, killed his friend Murat Arlı after being released from prison, wrapping his body in a blanket and throwing it into a drainage canal.
Confessing to the murder during interrogation, Atilla Cücü said, "I killed my friend by beating him in a moment of rage." Meanwhile, Tuğçe Omita's grieving mother, Döne Omita, stated, "It turns out he hadn't died, but had been released. And he committed murder again. We are living among murderers. We have no safety. This man killed my daughter and threw her into the sewer. When I saw him on television, I went back to the day my daughter died. I had a nervous breakdown."
A special team established by the Homicide Bureau of the Provincial Police Department found the decomposed body of Murat Arlı, who worked at the bus terminal and whose family had filed a missing person report, inside a sack wrapped in a blanket on the seashore in Karataş district on March 10.
While investigating the murder, the teams tracked the IMEI number of Arlı's inactive mobile phone. Upon the phone signaling from Kars 4 months later, research revealed that the phone was being used by the son of Atilla Cücü, a friend with whom Arlı had worked as an unauthorized parking attendant at the bus terminal. The police conducted simultaneous operations in Adana and Kars, detaining 5 suspects, including Cücü and his son.
"I KILLED HIM IN A MOMENT OF RAGE"
It was learned that Atilla Cücü, who confessed to the murder during his interrogation at the police station, said, "We were staying together at the bus terminal. We had been drinking together, we got into a fight. I killed my friend by beating him in a moment of rage. Later, I wrapped the body in a blanket, put it in a sack, and carried it on my motorcycle to throw it into the drainage canal. I am very regretful." Atilla Cücü was arrested by the duty magistrate at the courthouse where they were referred, while the other 4 individuals were released under judicial control conditions.
HE HAD MURDERED 9-YEAR-OLD TUĞÇE
It was learned that Atilla Cücü, who was sent to prison, had entered prison in 1998 for murder and rape and had been released some time ago. It emerged that Cücü had invited his neighbor's 9-year-old daughter, Tuğçe Omita, to his home under the pretext of having her buy him cigarettes, sexually assaulted and murdered her, and then, just like with Murat Arlı, wrapped her lifeless body in a blanket and threw it into a drainage canal.
"IT TURNS OUT HE HADN'T DIED AND HAD BEEN RELEASED"
Tuğçe Omita's grieving mother, Döne Omita, who said she saw in a news report on television that Atilla Cücü had been released from prison and committed the same type of murder again, recounted her experience to reporters. Omita said, "It turns out he hadn't died, but had been released. And he committed murder again. We are living among murderers. We have no safety. This man killed my daughter and threw her into the sewer. When I saw him on television, I went back to the day my daughter died. I had a nervous breakdown. I cannot describe the pain I am feeling."
"I WANT TO KEEP MY DAUGHTER ALIVE"
Explaining that her other daughter is also a cancer patient and bedridden, Omita said, "My daughter has a brain tumor. My husband is sick, and I am sick. We are living in pain. Now, seeing my daughter's murderer again has shattered us. At the very least, I want to keep my daughter alive."
