Following the 'bribery' investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Uşak Municipality, Özkan Yalım was detained on March 30 and subsequently arrested by the court. During the ongoing judicial process, Özkan Yalım was being held temporarily in Istanbul.
Yalım, who was removed from his mayoral post by the Ministry of Interior as part of an administrative investigation, had declared his intention to benefit from the provisions of effective remorse during the prosecution process. As part of the investigation, Yalım was transferred to the Karatepe Penal Execution Institution in the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ yesterday evening.
Following these developments, Republican People's Party (CHP) Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre announced to the public that Yalım had been unanimously expelled from the party by the Central Disciplinary Board.
It is stated that eight other individuals, along with Yalım, have been arrested as part of the investigation conducted on charges of 'bribery', 'extortion', and 'rigging of tenders'. Following his detention on March 27, Yalım provided detailed statements under the scope of effective remorse during both the police and prosecution stages, contributing to the acceleration of judicial procedures in the case file.
