In the CHP, a call for an extraordinary convention was made with the signatures of 111 deputies, and it was requested that the convention be convened on July 12. However, 27 deputies did not sign the declaration. The stance of Oğuz Kaan Salıcı, who was among those who did not sign, had drawn attention.
Making a statement on his social media account following the absolute nullity decision, Salıcı had used the expression, "It is essential that our Convention, which Republican People's Party members see as a festival of democracy, be convened as soon as possible."
Speaking on a live broadcast on A Haber, reporter İlter Yeşiltaş shared the details of his conversation with Salıcı. According to what Yeşiltaş conveyed, Salıcı explained why he did not sign the declaration regarding the convention call with the following words:
"I have no problem with the convention being convened. The content of the text did not seem appropriate to me. This is a text that was prepared beforehand. When I was informed about it later, it was not possible to change the content. That is why I did not sign it. When I was called, I was told that 110 people had already signed."
