In Adana, Güldane Gerçek, a mother of one, left the man she was living with, Muzaffer Erkuvan, due to severe incompatibility and moved into a Women's Shelter.
Erkuvan went to the home of Güldane's mother, Şenay Gerçek, in the Menekşe neighborhood of the Sarıçam district on August 24 to reconcile.
When Güldane Gerçek rejected the reconciliation offer, Muzaffer Erkuvan went outside and committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.
The Erkuvan family held Güldane, her mother Şenay, and her sister Gaye Gerçek responsible for Muzaffer Erkuvan's death.
KILLED DURING CEMETERY VISIT
Şenay, Güldane, and Gaye Gerçek visited Muzaffer Erkuvan's grave at the Buruk Cemetery in the Sarıçam district around 16:00 on October 21.
Muzaffer Erkuvan's father, Şemsettin Erkuvan, followed the mother and her two daughters, against whom he held a grudge due to his son's suicide.
As the mother and her daughters were sitting on benches near the funeral prayer stone in the cemetery, Şemsettin Erkuvan approached on a motorcycle, opened fire with a handgun, and fled.
It was determined that Şenay, Güldane, and Gaye Gerçek, who were shot in the head, had lost their lives.
SPECIAL TEAM ESTABLISHED
A special team established within the Homicide Bureau launched an operation to capture Şemsettin Erkuvan.
Following a tip-off to the Sarıçam District Police Department, homicide detectives determined that the suspect was hiding in the forest in the Göztepe neighborhood of Sarıçam.
Moving for the operation, homicide teams conducted a search in the area with the support of Counter-Terrorism and Special Operations Branch teams.
Erkuvan was captured while hiding in a hollow on a hillside with the handgun he used in the murders.
'I WAS ANGRY, I COULDN'T STAND IT AND SHOT THEM'
It was revealed that Şemsettin Erkuvan, who was taken to the Public Security Branch Directorate, had arranged his hiding place before the murder and had stocked food and spare clothing in the hollow on the hillside to survive. Under interrogation, Erkuvan said, "The 3 women I shot are responsible for my son's death. That is why I held a grudge against them. I happened to come across them while passing by the cemetery on my motorcycle on the day of the incident. I was angry, I couldn't stand it and shot them. Afterward, I went to the wooded area and hid." After his procedures at the police station, Erkuvan was referred to the courthouse and told reporters, "They hanged my son, they killed him." Following his procedures, Erkuvan was arrested.
