Social media influencer Ahmet Yılmaz, known as Azad Yılmaz, who was taken into custody due to a post he made on his social media account following the postponement of the Super Cup match scheduled to be played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been released under judicial control.
Yılmaz, who was taken into custody in Samsun, stated in his testimony to the prosecutor's office, "I did it under the influence of alcohol. When it spread on social media, I took it down an hour later. I regret it." In the court where he was brought, Yılmaz argued that he had made the post as a joke.
The court released Yılmaz under judicial control, imposing a travel ban and requiring him to report to a police station every Tuesday to sign in.
"WE WERE MISUNDERSTOOD"
Making a statement upon leaving the courthouse, Ahmet Yılmaz said, "We accompanied a song that is anonymous in Ankara when musicians were playing it, under the influence of alcohol. There is no political, racial intent, or ulterior motive in the song I accompanied. We were misunderstood. I apologize to everyone who misunderstood us. We have given our statement."
