He had stabbed 5 people in Eskişehir: It turns out he referred to the killers of 51 and 77 people as 'saints'

Turkey is talking about Arda Küçükyetim, who wounded 5 people in random attacks in Eskişehir.

Küçükyetim entered a building in the Tepebaşı district of Eskişehir with a backpack the day before yesterday.

The 18-year-old suspect, who put on a helmet-shaped headgear he took out of his bag, wore a mask with a skeleton figure on his face, and donned an assault vest with Nazi symbols, took his knife and went back out to the street.

He then headed toward the area where a mosque is located. Küçükyetim, who started a live broadcast with his mobile phone and also had an axe and pepper spray in the pockets of his assault vest, began attacking those sitting in the tea garden across from the mosque and those walking by. While panic broke out in the area, 5 people randomly attacked by Arda Küçükyetim were wounded, and other citizens began to flee in terror. A police officer who noticed the chaos while heading to his duty station intervened immediately and neutralized Arda Küçükyetim.

HE PUT ON HIS HELMET AND ATTACKED

One of the eyewitnesses, Yakup Taşçı, said that he noticed a young man outside because of his attire while he was at home. Explaining that he watched him from the window, Taşçı said, “He took some things out of his bag and put them on. He left behind what he had brought with him. He put on his helmet, then walked away from here. I thought he was going to get on a motorcycle. I notified the police. Then I learned that he had attacked elderly people,” he said.

‘HE WAS VERY INTROVERTED’

Hasan Güler, the headman (muhtar) of the Uluönder Neighborhood where the incident took place, stated that when he learned about the attack and went to the scene, the police had already neutralized the attacker, Arda Küçükyetim, and taken him to the police station. Stating that they tried to help the wounded, Güler said: “He lived in our neighborhood. They moved to Çamlıca Neighborhood 3 years ago. His family is a quiet couple who work in a factory. He is one of the family's 2 children. He was introverted. The person who carried out the incident has acquaintances here because he spent his childhood here.”

'MY HATRED TOWARD PEOPLE INCREASED'

Sharing photos of his equipment before the attack, Arda Küçükyetim added the note: “I will take my shower and go out with my equipment, I will go to the place where I will carry out the attack by car or public transport and change my clothes. I am taking my axe and my vest and attacking everyone.” It was seen that in his previous posts, Küçükyetim had used the phrases, “I grew up in a middle-class neighborhood, my hatred toward people increased toward the end of my middle school years.”

ARRESTED

Arda Küçükyetim, whose procedures at the police station were completed, was referred to the courthouse under heavy security measures after health checks at Eskişehir Yunus Emre State Hospital, wearing a bulletproof vest. The suspect was arrested by the court he was brought before.

16-PAGE MANIFESTO

It was revealed that Arda Küçükyetim had previously published a 16-page manifesto on his social media account. Some of the statements in the manifesto are as follows:

- Do not fall for the lies of the Jewish media. This is entirely a lone wolf attack.

- In my previous plan, I aimed to attack the TKP building.

‘I HOPE I CLEANSE THE BUGS’

- I was motivated by human hatred, misanthropy.

- I hope I can cleanse enough bugs with these.

- My relationship with my family was never good.

- Place an IED at the immigrant registration center and blow it up.

It was also seen that the attacker used insults against some ethnic groups and LGBT members in his posts, and said, “They should all be cleansed, regardless of whether they are children or elderly.”

HE CALLED TERRORISTS 'SAINTS'

It was revealed that Arda Küçükyetim used the term 'saint' for Brenton Tarrant, who caused the death of 51 people in a terrorist attack on a mosque in New Zealand in 2019, and Anders Behring Breivik, who raided a youth camp in Norway in 2011 and killed 77 people.

THERE IS A SWASTIKA ON HIS KNIFE

Two knives and an axe were found on the attacker, Arda Küçükyetim, who was caught red-handed at the scene. It was seen that one of the knives had a swastika symbol, which is the symbol of the Nazis, on it. Medical teams took the wounded T.A. (71), C.Ö. (57), N.Ö. (87), M.K. (64), and C.A. (64) to the City Hospital. It was learned that 3 of the wounded are in intensive care as a precaution, and the others are continuing their treatment in wards.
