An ex officio investigation has been launched against Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt, who officially joined the CHP today after having his party pin attached at the CHP group meeting, on charges of 'insulting and threatening the President'.

A statement regarding the investigation was made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The statement included the following:

"An ex officio investigation has been launched against Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt for the crimes of insulting and threatening the President due to the words he uttered regarding the President at his party's group meeting today. Presented for public information."
