CHP Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested and sent to prison during operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), remains in custody despite health issues.
Çalık, who has previously overcome cancer twice and lost 21 kilos in prison after his arrest, shared a photo with his family at the İzmir Buca Prison.
"We will reunite. We will meet again. We will have our celebration that day," said Çalık in his post, which reads as follows:
"I AM THINKING OF MY CHILDREN"
"We are a family of 4. My beautiful wife, my children who have never once upset me. Thank God, we were always happy.
This is our first separation in this life. But I have understood once again that iron bars cannot stand against true love.
I love my great Beylikdüzü family just as I love my own family. Believe me, you are always on my mind. I am thinking of my children; they must be running around in the parks we built. School is about to start, and their lunch boxes will continue to reach them. Thinking of these things gives me hope. The prayers offered for me keep me standing.
We will reunite. We will meet again. We will have our celebration that day."
