He martyred a police officer during a drug operation: He turned out to be a career criminal!

Teams from the Çekmeköy District Police Department obtained a search warrant for apartments 2, 4, and 6 of a building following a tip-off regarding "firearms and drug trafficking." During the operation, which was carried out with the participation of District Police teams and Special Operations units, shots were fired through a gap in the door of apartment number 6 just as officers were preparing to breach it with a battering ram.

An investigation determined that the person who opened fire was 35-year-old drug and arms dealer Ramazan Açik.

EMRE ALBAYRAK MARTYRED

As a result of the gunfire, one of the bullets struck the gap in the protective vest, critically wounding Special Operations police officer Emre Albayrak. While Ramazan Açik was neutralized in the ensuing clash, Albayrak was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved despite all interventions and was martyred.

As part of the operation, the father, Cemal Açik, and brother, Çetin Açik, who were in the other apartments of the building, were captured alive. It was determined that both suspects had various criminal records.

CEREMONY HELD FOR THE MARTYRED POLICE OFFICER

A ceremony was held at the Police Headquarters for the martyred Emre Albayrak, who joined the police force in 2019 and had been serving in Istanbul for three years. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who attended the ceremony, stated, "Our heroic Police Force, a burning fire has fallen into our hearts. We are experiencing an indescribable pain."

The body of Albayrak, who was married last year, was sent to his hometown of Samsun. The martyr's funeral will be laid to rest in the family cemetery today following the prayer service at the Avcı Sultan Mehmet Mosque in Ladik.

FAMILY'S CRIMINAL HISTORY REVEALED 

Extensive criminal records for Ramazan Açik, who was at the center of the operation, and his family were uncovered.

It was determined that Ramazan Açik had a total of 10 separate criminal records, including:

4 for "intentional injury,"

1 for "theft via informatics,"

2 for "threats and insults,"

and others such as "endangering traffic safety" and "ill-treatment."

It was recorded that father Cemal Açik had:

1 criminal record for "intentional injury."

It was revealed that the younger brother, Çetin Açik, had a total of 21 criminal records, including:

3 for "intentional injury,"

2 for "insults and threats,"

2 for "intentionally endangering general safety,"

and 2 for "drug-related" offenses.
