He opposed the dismissal of the lieutenants! Statement from the Ministry of National Defense regarding the retirement of Brigadier General Hakan Tutucu

The Ministry of National Defense held its weekly briefing. During the meeting, statements were also made regarding the retirement of Brigadier General Hakan Tutucu, who had opposed the dismissal of the lieutenants. The statement reported that Tutucu submitted his retirement request of his own volition on February 28 and that his request was approved.

The statement included the following remarks:

"Brigadier General Hakan Tutucu submitted his retirement request of his own volition on February 28. His request was deemed appropriate and was approved. The reports in the press regarding his assignment do not reflect the truth."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Five lieutenants and three commanders who took an oath with swords and chanted "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" after the Military Academy graduation ceremony were dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces. The decision at the Ministry of National Defense High Disciplinary Board was taken with a 5-to-4 vote.

Brigadier General Hakan Tutucu, Head of Logistics of the Land Forces Command, who voted against the dismissal of the lieutenants, requested his retirement. It had been reported that Tutucu submitted his retirement petition to the Land Forces Command in recent days.
