He presided over the Pastor Brunson case: Oktay Tabur's 'gun' collection revealed

The 'gun' collection of Oktay Tabur, President of the İzmir Judicial Commission of First Instance, who presided over the Pastor Andrew Craig Brunson case—which turned into a diplomatic crisis between Turkey and the US—has been revealed.

In a photograph taken in the lounge behind Tabur's office, 13 handguns and 7 long-barreled rifles can be seen mounted on a metal panel.

According to a report by Timur Soykan from BirGün; those posing with Oktay Tabur include Osman Nuri Yiğit, President of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) Inspection Board, and HSK Inspection Board Deputy Presidents Mehmet Şirin Işık and Murat Gülaç... 

PHOTO INSTEAD OF 'INVESTIGATION'

When HSK inspectors visited the İzmir Courthouse on May 2, instead of launching an investigation upon seeing this arsenal in the lounge, they were seen posing for a photograph.

Sharing his views on the matter, Tabur confirmed that the weapons belonged to him, stating, “It is my lounge, they are all licensed weapons, they are my weapons. The long-barreled ones are licensed hunting rifles.”

"THEY ALL CAME, AND THEY ALL LIKED IT"

Saying, “If it is newsworthy, you can report it,” Oktay Tabur continued as follows:

 “There is nothing I am afraid of. The President of the Court of Cassation, the President of the Ministry of Justice Inspection Board, they have all come to my office, and they have all liked it and expressed their appreciation.”

'PORSCHE' SOURCE IS THE STOCK MARKET

Furthermore, Tabur, who drives a Porsche Taycan and occasionally arrives at the courthouse in this luxury vehicle, confirmed that he owns a Porsche Taycan. When asked about the source of the funds, he replied:

“I trade on the stock market. There is no doubt about the source of the money. We have asset declarations. We have also notified the Ministry of Justice about when and how our car was purchased. It is a matter that everyone knows and is aware of.”
