The first Turkish astronaut to go to space, Alper Gezeravcı, has started to take part in AKP's election propaganda.
Gezeravcı, who went to Kırıkkale, Erzurum, Ankara, Kayseri, Kahramanmaraş, Mersin, İzmir, Tekirdağ, Balıkesir, İstanbul, Edirne, Düzce, Bolu, Antalya, Gaziantep, Konya, Çankırı, and Samsun under the name of 'Youth Meetings', came together with AKP ministers and mayoral candidates at these events.
According to the report in Sözcü; Gezeravcı traveled approximately 6,000 kilometers for the youth meetings. This figure is a distance equal to Gezeravcı going to the International Space Station 6 times.
Gezeravcı, who appeared on stage at Ege University together with the AKP İzmir Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Hamza Dağ, also attended the youth meeting held at Samsun University Ballıca Campus yesterday with the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır.
Gezeravcı had previously met with students at Erzurum Technical University and Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University again with Minister Kacır, and also attended the Antalya Diplomacy Forum with Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.
REACTION FROM CHP'S YÜCEL
CHP İzmir Deputy and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel criticized Gezeravcı's participation in AKP propaganda and said, "Mobilizing ministers and public resources for local elections was not enough for the AKP. Our first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, who went to space with all of our taxes, has also been included in the AKP's propaganda convoy. The government is making our astronaut do AKP propaganda. However, these efforts will not yield results; they will be defeated on March 31st."
