Following an argument with the presiding judge during the 61st session of the IMM case, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from the courtroom, announced that he has been requested to present his defense in three different files on Monday, July 6. One of the cases in which İmamoğlu is being tried concerns "espionage," while another relates to a diploma issue. The third case is being conducted regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. İmamoğlu criticized the court for suddenly moving the defense dates to the same day, especially in the IMM case, after previously granting him more time.

In his statement, İmamoğlu said, "On Monday, July 6, I have trials in two separate courts for both the so-called espionage and diploma cases. The judge in the IMM case, however, wants me to present my defense in the IMM case on the same day. Even though he had previously accepted that I would present my defense last."

Stating that he does not find it humane to be forced to present his defense in three different courts on the same day as the 110-day trial process nears its end, İmamoğlu drew attention to the court panel's insistence on concluding the case specifically on July 9.

"There is no humane aspect to forcing a person to present their defense in 3 separate courts on the same day. As we approach the end of a 110-day trial process, the presiding judge's insistence on concluding the hearing on July 9 is thought-provoking.

Why the insistence on July 9?

What is the reason for this sudden decision?

While defendants with 3 actions are given 1 full day to present their defense, why is the defense of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is accused of 142 actions, being restricted?

There are no answers to these questions. What will happen in Turkey after July 9?"
