A ceremony was held at the Istanbul Police Department for the fallen police officer Cihat Ermiş, who was married and had a 2-year-old son. The ceremony was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, representatives of the judiciary, military personnel, police chiefs, and the relatives of the fallen Cihat Ermiş. It was learned that the fallen police officer's 2-year-old son, Kemal Asaf, was celebrating his birthday today. 

TEARS FLOWED LIKE A FLOOD

Following the speech by Provincial Police Chief Aktaş, prayers were recited for the fallen police officer. As the martyr's coffin, draped in the Turkish flag, was carried to the accompaniment of a military band, tears flowed like a flood. Some of the fallen officer's relatives fainted during the ceremony. Istanbul Police Chief Zafer Aktaş attempted to console the martyr's father, Şefik Ermiş, his mother, Sare Ermiş, and his relatives.

ORPHANED ON HIS BIRTHDAY

While it was observed that the fallen officer's wife, Nilüfer Ermiş, was struggling to stand, a detail regarding their 2-year-old son broke hearts. It was learned that the fallen officer's son, Kemal Asaf, was celebrating his birthday today. Female police officers looked after 2-year-old Kemal Asaf as he ran around the ceremony area.
