Heavy rain and snow alert: Yellow code warning issued

The Ministry of Interior has announced that, in line with the latest assessments from the General Directorate of Meteorology, a yellow code meteorological alert has been issued for several provinces. It was stated that significant disruptions in transportation and daily life may occur due to the consecutive weather events covered by the warning.

The eastern part of Samsun, as well as the coasts of Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin in the eastern Black Sea region, will face heavy rainfall. According to meteorological forecasts, strong rain and sleet are expected around Hakkari, in the eastern region of Şırnak, and in the south of Van; this precipitation is expected to manifest as heavy snow in higher altitudes.

It was also reported that in the northern regions of Diyarbakır and Batman, as well as around Siirt, precipitation will continue first as rain and then as heavy snow at higher elevations.

WARNING ALSO FOR THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN AND EASTERN ANATOLIA

While heavy and locally intense snowfall is expected in the central and eastern districts of Tokat province, similar heavy snowfall is forecast for the northeastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, specifically in Kars, Ardahan, Ağrı, and the western regions of Iğdır. In the Eastern Mediterranean, strong winds and storms will continue to be effective in the northern and western parts of Kahramanmaraş and Mersin, as well as in the northern districts of Adana.

Authorities emphasized that in addition to potential delays in transportation, risks such as landslides, icing, frost, avalanches, floods, and water inundation have increased, particularly in sloping and high-altitude areas. Citizens were urged to be cautious against flying debris from roofs, as well as trees and utility poles that may topple, and to closely follow local warnings.
