Heavy rainfall warning: Red alert in 4 provinces! Avalanche danger also present

The General Directorate of Meteorology has shared weather forecasts for the country, issuing heavy rainfall warnings for several provinces. Additionally, there is a risk of icing and avalanches in certain areas of the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia regions.

RAINY WEATHER TO COVER A LARGE AREA

While the northern, inner, and eastern parts of the country are expected to be partly to very cloudy, precipitation is forecast for the Marmara region, the inner Aegean, the northern and eastern parts of Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, and the northern and western parts of Eastern Anatolia. The precipitation will manifest as rain and sleet, particularly in the Marmara region and coastal areas, and as snow in the inner and higher elevations.

CAUTION ADVISED DUE TO HEAVY RAINFALL

Locally heavy rainfall is expected in the vicinity of Artvin, Rize, Sinop, and İnebolu. The Meteorology office has advised citizens in these provinces to be cautious against flash floods and adverse weather conditions.

HIGH AVALANCHE DANGER

While icing, frost, fog, and mist are expected in the inner and eastern parts of the country, there is a risk in areas with steep terrain and high snow cover in the higher elevations of the inner Eastern Black Sea region and the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia, which could trigger avalanches.

TEMPERATURES ABOVE SEASONAL NORMALS

Air temperatures are projected to be 2-4 degrees above seasonal normals in the western and southern parts of the country, and close to normal in the northern and eastern parts.

STRONG WINDS EXPECTED

The wind is expected to blow lightly and occasionally at moderate strength from the north in the northern and western parts, and from the south in the southern and eastern parts. In the Marmara region, the wind is expected to blow strongly from the northeast, and from the northwest in the vicinity of Sinop and İnebolu, at speeds of 40-60 km/h.
