Her diploma was revoked alongside İmamoğlu's: She has left her post

It has been learned that Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay Saybaşılı, a faculty member at Galatasaray University whose diploma was revoked alongside that of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has retired from her position at the university.

In accordance with a decision taken by Istanbul University on March 18, 2024, the diplomas of 28 individuals, including IMM Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, were revoked. 

A new development has occurred regarding Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay Saybaşılı, a faculty member at the Galatasaray University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, who was among those individuals.

SHE HAS LEFT HER POST AT THE UNIVERSITY

It was stated that Prof. Dr. Saybaşılı, who continued her duties at the university for a period following the diploma revocation decision, has retired. It was announced that Prof. Dr. Caner Dinçer has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Business Administration at Galatasaray University.

“RESEARCHER HAS LEFT THE INSTITUTION” NOTE IN THE ACADEMIC SYSTEM

On the page for Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay Saybaşılı in the Galatasaray University Academic Data Management System, the phrase “The researcher has left the institution” appeared. Thus, Saybaşılı’s official employment relationship with the university has ended.

ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY’S DECISION HAD CAUSED A STIR

Istanbul University’s diploma revocation decision in March had caused widespread public reaction regarding the equivalence and validity procedures carried out in higher education institutions. Within the scope of the decision, Saybaşılı’s diploma, along with those of İmamoğlu and 27 others, was deemed invalid.
