A high-level resignation has come from the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA). Balıkesir MP Burak Dalgın announced that he has resigned from his party.

Making a statement via his social media account, Dalgın used the following expressions:

'THE FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE I REQUESTED UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT TAKE PLACE'

"The DEVA Party is entering a different path under a new structure.

Thus, my paths are parting with my party, whose program I worked on, of which I was a founder, and thanks to which I met very valuable people and gained friends. I convey my respects and greetings to all our friends from all corners of our country, especially Mr. @alibabacan, with whom we have come together and walked the path in the real/virtual world over the last five years.

I have been expressing my findings, warnings, and suggestions regarding the functioning of @devapartisi for a long time, both verbally and in writing, in narrow and collective settings. The fundamental change that our nation signaled and demanded, first through their statements in polls and then with their votes in the 2023 and 2024 elections, unfortunately did not take place. However, we cannot expect different results by doing the same things. I did not take a role in the party administration at the grand congress in October. In the recent process, I also emphasized the risks of complex mechanisms being perceived as political engineering, accelerating identity erosion, and making it difficult to reach broad masses.

I still stand behind the goals we aimed for when writing DEVA's program and founding the party: (1)

to offer concrete solutions to the common problems of our citizens; (2)

to present the claim/team to govern Turkey; and (3) to do these with a new political style. I will continue to work with increasing enthusiasm for our Turkey to overcome mediocrity, evaluate windows of opportunity, and compete with the world in every field. As the great Yunus Emre, who has inspired centuries, said: “We are reborn every moment/ Who could ever tire of us”
