His name was mentioned in Sedat Peker's videos... Major development in stock market investigation: Detention warrant issued for former AKP member Taşkesenlioğlu's ex-husband

Detention warrants have been issued for seven individuals as part of an investigation into alleged manipulation at Borsa İstanbul. Among those for whom detention warrants were issued is Ünsal Ban, the former rector of the Turkish Aeronautical Association University and the former husband of former AKP deputy Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes took action following allegations of market fraud involving certain capital market instruments traded on the Borsa İstanbul Equity Market. Stating that the suspects caused losses for small investors through artificial price movements on certain stocks, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a comprehensive investigation for "market fraud" and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes."

DETENTION WARRANTS ISSUED FOR 7 PEOPLE

As part of the investigation, detention warrants were issued for seven people, one of whom was determined to be abroad, while the other six were located in İzmir, Antalya, Ankara, and Şanlıurfa. Teams from the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau are continuing their efforts to apprehend the suspects.

EXTRAORDINARY MOVEMENTS DETECTED IN STOCKS

According to Odatv's report, between March and September 2022, there were fluctuations in the number of investors, trading volume, and prices of certain stocks that were contrary to the ordinary course of life. It was stated that these fluctuations were consciously directed, artificial increases were achieved, and small investors were caused to suffer losses. The prosecutor's office reported that this situation is being evaluated within the scope of the crime of market fraud committed by an organized structure.

DETENTION WARRANT FOR ÜNSAL BAN

It was learned that one of the individuals for whom a detention warrant was issued is former Turkish Aeronautical Association University Rector Ünsal Ban. Ünsal Ban had previously come to the fore with his tumultuous divorce process from former AKP deputy Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu and bribery allegations at the Capital Markets Board (SPK).

While his divorce process was ongoing, his name was involved in corruption investigations conducted at the Capital Markets Board (SPK). Ban, who was detained on September 2, 2022, as part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was released with the judicial control condition of 'not leaving his residence'.

However, upon the prosecutor's office's objection to the decision, he was detained again on September 3, 2022, and arrested.

HIS NAME WAS ALSO MENTIONED IN A MONEY LAUNDERING INVESTIGATION

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had also taken action against Ünsal Ban in another investigation conducted regarding the crime of laundering assets derived from crime. In line with the MASAK reports received and evidence collected, 9 people, including Ban, were referred to the court with a request for arrest on February 13, 2023.

On February 14, 2023, the criminal judgeship of peace decided to arrest some individuals, including Ünsal Ban, and to release the others under judicial control.

Ünsal Ban was released on October 27, 2023, in the case where he was tried for money laundering. Ban was also one of the names mentioned in the allegations made by Sedat Peker in the videos he published on YouTube.
