In Beyoğlu's Hasköy neighborhood, a man named Özgür Kemal Akdemir shot and killed a woman named Başak Tekin in the middle of the street, then shot himself in the head with the same weapon.

While the woman lost her life at the scene, the suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Numerous police teams were dispatched to the scene. It was stated that the investigation by the teams is ongoing.

CAME TO ISTANBUL FROM ERZINCAN

According to allegations, Akdemir and Tekin met and began a relationship in 2009, staying together for about 10 years, but Tekin eventually left Akdemir because he used drugs. It was revealed that Akdemir had become obsessed with Tekin, from whom he had separated about 5 years ago. Upon hearing that Başak Tekin had become engaged during this period, Akdemir reportedly boarded a bus from Erzincan last night and arrived in Istanbul this morning.

It was revealed that Akdemir went to the address where Başak Tekin lived with her family near the scene and intercepted the woman as she was heading to work.
