Avcılar Hospital, which was named in the "newborn gang" case and had a trustee appointed to it, was sold for 600 million liras in the second tender held by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF).
The SDIF had put the hospital's commercial integrity up for sale on May 25, 2025, with an estimated value of 768 million 100 thousand liras. However, due to a lack of participation in the first tender, a second tender was organized. As a result of this tender, where the sale price was reduced to 600 million liras, the hospital was transferred to Daviva Grup Diyaliz Hizmetleri A.Ş.
It was reported that the sale transaction was completed on September 24, 2025, and the license transfer process is ongoing before the Ministry of Health.
IT HAD COME TO THE FORE WITH THE "NEWBORN GANG" CASE
Avcılar Hospital had come to the fore as one of the 13 private hospitals named in the investigation known to the public as the "newborn gang."
Within the scope of the investigation, it was alleged that some private hospitals provided financial gain in exchange for referring infant patients and that some infants lost their lives as a result of negligence.
During this process, trustees were appointed to many hospitals, and the licenses of some institutions were revoked.
The former owner of the hospital, former AKP Minister of Health Mehmet Müezzinoğlu, had stated in a statement after the scandal that he was at peace with his conscience.
Müezzinoğlu had used the following expressions in his assessment at the time:
"We cannot say that no one did anything wrong. I have not looked at the indictment, and I have no information other than what has been reflected in the public eye. However, I received information from the hospital management, so I am very much at ease. My colleagues are people who do their jobs well. We already undergo 6-7 audits. I am at peace in terms of conscience."
