House arrest decision in IMM investigation

A house arrest decision has been issued for Murat Abbas, the General Manager of Kültür A.Ş., who was arrested as part of the investigation conducted into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

It was stated that a judicial control decision has been applied to Murat Abbas.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Kültür A.Ş. General Manager Murat Abbas had been detained as part of a large-scale investigation launched into allegations of "rigging tenders and irregularities" at the IMM, and was sent to prison after giving his statement.

WHO IS MURAT ABBAS?

Born in Istanbul in 1969, Abbas graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at Istanbul University. He began working as an audit assistant at BDO Denet in 1994. He held positions as a financial controller and finance manager at companies including PWC, Bosch, Siemens, the Profilo Group, Superonline, and Ticketturk.

Entering the music industry in 1999, Abbas worked as an editor for various radio programs and as a deputy general manager at Pozitif Live. In 2014, he began working at Zorlu Holding as the shareholder representative responsible for the Zorlu Performing Arts Center (PSM). Appointed as the General Manager of PSM in March 2015, Abbas was responsible for the institution's creative, administrative, organizational, and finance departments throughout his 6-year tenure.
