A house arrest decision has been issued for entertainer Mehmet Ali Erbil, who was detained as part of an investigation into 23 artists and social media influencers identified as having advertised and encouraged illegal betting.
Following their statements to the prosecutor, 16 suspects were referred to the duty magistrate with a request for their arrest. Judicial control measures in the form of "house arrest" were applied to Serdar Ortaç and Mehmet Ali Erbil, 4 suspects were arrested, and 1 suspect was released under judicial control conditions.
"I AM VERY REGRETFUL TO BE INVOLVED IN SUCH AN INCIDENT"
Speaking in front of the courthouse after the proceedings, Mehmet Ali Erbil said, “I said it on my social media. They tried to push us into such an incident in Malta, where we went.
I said on live broadcast, 'I did not play this virtual gambling, I do not recommend it to anyone.' I said it with my own mouth on live broadcast. If I had gone to such a thing, to such a place, they would have killed me for saying such a thing.
Because these people earn their bread from this, but I am still very regretful to be involved in such an incident.
Even though I was not a part of this virtual gambling, which really does not suit me at all, they still tried to make it look like I was part of this platform,” he stated.
